From the age of six, I had two great loves: food and the idea of running my own business. By my early twenties, my passion for food had only grown stronger and spotting a gap in the market for premium dessert products, I proceeded to launch my first business - Indulgence Patisserie Ltd.
Fast forward fifteen years and Indulgence Patisserie had become a multi-million-pound operation; an award-winning family business employing seventy staff and with supply contracts with some of the UK’s and International leading supermarkets. During this time, I had also become a husband and father – two things which had a major impact on my work and decision making.
Having had the valuable experiences in the food industry business myself, experienced the growing pains and challenges owning your own business, I am ready to help other business owners to take back their business and set themselves up for a bigger slice of the market share.
If you are just starting out in the food manufacturing industry, just as I did in 1986, then the Bread and Butter Festival is for you. The event, over two days in November at the Institute of Directors, gives small food manufacturing companies a great opportunity to meet with over 90 leading food and drink industry names and to join and take part in the workshops and talk rooms on offer over the two days.
You can visit me in the Marketplace where I will be delighted to discuss your business and growth opportunities for you that lie ahead. I am also presenting a talk on Sunday 13th November at 12:30 in the Start Up Zone, focussing on scaling up and making your food business profitable. During the session I will cover:
- Improving the accuracy of your recipes during NPD
- Learn how to scale your production and retain control of your business
- Understand your manufacturing costs and routes to market
- Understand your margin expectations for retailers and food service
I would be delighted to take your questions, either after my presentation or at anytime during the two days. Come and find me in the marketplace, you have nothing to lose and a stronger more profitable business to gain.
